What Should I Expect with A Facial or A Peel?
After a consultation to choose your unique treatment based on your skin type and needs, you can relax in one of our private treatment rooms while your procedure is performed. Every facial will be personalized; however, most facials will start with a deep cleaning to remove dirt, oil, makeup, and lotions. After that, steam is often used to open the skin pores so blackheads and whiteheads can be extracted easily. A type of exfoliation usually follows this, performed either manually or with an add-on treatment. A mask or serum may be massaged in to nourish deeply. To end the treatment, an SPF moisturizer will be applied to protect the skin from sun damage after the facial.
If you have decided to have a chemical peel treatment, depending on the strength of the chemical peel, you should expect the face to peel and itch for a few days to two or more weeks. Dr. Harmon or a member of her team will explain methods to care for your face during your procedure. Please keep in mind that no matter how much your skin itches during the post-treatment process, pulling the skin off is not helpful because it could cause scarring.
